Why is it necessary to use different primer sets for different species to amplify the same gene?
Species specific primer serves in identification of different species based on the molecular markers present in DNA sequences. Since mtDNA and rDNA have species specific sequences, use of different set of primers is needed for amplification of same gene. This allows identification of species based on reliable molecular methods. Presence of transcribed spacer and non transcribed spacer sequences in DNA pose need of use of different primer for amplification of same gene from different species.
