what is a virtue? how are virtues acquired? do you agree with aristotle's claim that virtue is essential to the good life? Why or Why not
Virtue refers to the highest standard of moral behavior. Virtue is about exhibiting good character, upholding justice, treating people equally etc. Those who adopt virtue in their life will be happy and if someone is not following virtue, one would live a life full of resentment. Aristotle is right in saying that virtue is essential for a good life. People who are unethical or lead a vice life might progress and seems to be happy but that would be only momentary. They are doomed to go astray but those who stick to virtue might seems to be suffering but at the end they would emerge triumphant. We have seen people who have lead unethical life have been sent to prison while people who lived a life of virtue, they would lead a happy life.
