Personality can develop through the act of shaping by the
introduction of the behavioral reinforcement and the punishment.
The behavioral reinforcement and the punishment can lead someone
toward a desired behavioral trait, or discourage him or her from
displaying any undesired behavior. The operant conditioning within
the behaviorist theory is a product by whichB.F. Skinner has been
accustomed to.
Next, shaping requires that a subject is first rewarded for an
act that is performed and then possibly punished to alter the
subject's actions. By doing so, this alters the perception of the
subject and rewarding behavior encourages future behavior of
thesame caliber punishing behavior discourages that same trait from
being displayed.
