The Human Genome Project, HGP, was an international, collaborative research program. The basic aim of this project was to map and understand human genes. It is from "genes" that the term Genome came into being.
In this project, the nucleotide base pairs that make up human DNA were sequenced and the genes from human genome from both a physical and functional standpoint were identified. The project found that there is existence of genes in determining personality traits such as charisma, cynicism, housekeeping, obsessive-compulsive behaviour, etc.
Biology shapes personality as it emphasizes the internal physiological and genetic factors that influence personality. It studies the link between personality, DNA and processes in the brain. The physical structures shape behaviour, the most important physical structure in this regard is the nervous system. The human brain is responsible for the experience of various moods and the brain can affect impulses and impulsive behaviour.
