Reteplase is a second generation tissue plasminogen activator which is used for acute myocardial infarctions which works quickly while reducing the bleeding and for the risk to the heart. The mechanism of action of reteplase is when reteplase cleaves the Val/Arg bond in plasminogen leading to formation of plasmin. The formed plasmin leads to the degradation of fibrin matrix of the thrombus region which leads to its thrombolytic action. this section helps to avoid or break the existing blood clots or leakages in case of acute myocardial infractions.
