Answer #1

Mechanism of action of aldosterone:

  • Aldosterone acts as a hormone and binds to intracellular targets in target cells. The target cells are epithelial cells of renal collecting ducts of kidney.
  • Upon binding to receptor, it leads to activation of specific genes.
  • These genes produce proteins which modify the functioning of ionic channels: Na+/K+ ATPase .
  • It leads to absorption of Na+ and secretion of ions k+ and H+.
  • This is important in blood pressure regulation.
