What would happen if a dividing stem cell lost its ability to asymmetrically localize cytosolic factors during mitosis?
The daughter cells after division would look similar and wouldn't have different fate as the stem cells are supposed to be.
Stem cells undergo asymmetric cell division to produce two daughter cells each with different fate unlike normal symmetric cell division where both the daughter cells have same fate.
This makes stem cells to differentiate into different cell types. If the stem cells lose asymmetric cell division it would lose its differentiation property.
