What are the issues of individual and cultural diversity a counselor must consider when using REBT and behavioral theories?
There are a lot of factors that a counselor must consider when taking into consideration the therapy of REBT and Other behavioral therapies.
Many of the behavioral therapies and their prosica methods are rooted in a normative way of execution. For instance, in REBT, aiding an individual in solo decision making may not be fruitful if the individual is from a country with a collectivist approach as opposed individualistic.
Or, for that matter, pulling an individiual out of depression by the help of CBT might not work that well with a Japanese or Chinese as they may find the line of questioning intrusive and impolite.
Hence, the individual and cultural factors are of utmost importance while dealing with a certain client and/or patient.
