What is recruitment and selection ?
Recruitment and selection is a process by which a company hires people into the organization. The process includes attracting talent to the organization, interviewing the potential candidates, selecting the candidates and extending an offer. Each organization has their own recruitment and selection process.
The general process includes following steps:
1. Sourcing of candidates - Company websites, advertising of opening, job portals, employee referrals etc. -> Using these methods companies create a pool of candidates from which final selection would happen.
2. Shortlisting of candidates - Based on the specific parameter, applications and reviewed and candidates are shortlisted.
3. Interview of candidates - This could include multiple steps - telephonic, group discussion and face-to-face interviews. A final list of selected candidates who clear all rounds are considered eligible for an offer.
4. Offering the candidates - Selected candidates are offered the employment contract and once accepted mutually, they are recruited into the organization.
