What is “recruitment” as it pertains to muscle physiology?

Homework Answers

Answer #1
  • Motor unit recruitment is the activity to raise the contractile strength of muscle fiber by the  activation of extra motor unit.
  • Sustained contraction with less fatigue is achieved by activating motor unit
  • A motor unit consist of a muscle and neuron which innervate it.
  • Motor unit are recruited by their size, in which small motor units are activated with less intense activity where as addition motor unit recruitment occur in case of high intensity activity.
