What Is Body Fluid?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Body fluids refer to the various types of liquids present in the body of humans. The human body consists of about 60 to 67% water. This water forms various liquids or fluids which can be classified as intracellular fluid and extracellular fluid (ECF). Intracellular fluid is said to the fluid that lies within the boundaries of the cell membrane while Extracellular fluid refers to the fluid present extracellularly.

Intracellular fluid is about 67% of total fluids present in the body. Extracellular fluids can be further categorized as the interstitial fluid that forms about 27% of the total fluid, intravascular fluid (7%), and cerebrospinal fluid (1%).
