Explain why you have selected the nutritional strategy of 'chemoorganoheterotroph' For Eshcherichia coli?
E.coli uses carbon sources like glucose, lactose, etc which are produced by the other organism, for its growth and biomass production. Hence it is a heterotroph. It generates energy by the oxidation of organic compound it means it is an organotroph. This makes the E.coli a perfect example of chemoorganoheterotroph. Hence the most suitable nutrient strategy would be the one that is suitable for the chemoorganoheterotroph. This why when E.coli is cultured in lab a carbon source generaly glucose is included in the culture media to supprt the grwoth of E.coli.
