Answer #1

8) The triglyceride is the fats that are stored in muscle and adipose tissue and play an important role as an energy substance.

Adipose tissues are specialized tissues that function as a major storage site for neutral fats chiefly the triglycerides. Triglycerides are long chain fatty acyl esters of glycerol. It is composed of a glycerol esterified to 3 fatty acid chains of varying length and composition.

Triglycerides store unused calories and provide energy to the body when required. During exercise and other conditions, they can be mobilized and oxidized to provide energy. The oxidation of triacylglycerols produces more than twice as much energy than the oxidation of carbohydrates.

Thus the correct answer is Triglyceride.
