These type of arteries do not contain anastomoses or
branching.
Anastomosis is a connection between blood vessels where an
artery is branched into another vessel to help in supplying the
organ when one vessel is blocked or occluded.
In anatomical end arteries, if the artery is blocked,
the blood supply to the organs is completely
compromised.
Example : Retinal artery
Functional end arteries
These type of arteries form a weak anastomoses with
adjacent arteries that is not suffcient to
compensate the blood supply if the one of them is
blocked.
The anastomoses formed by these arteries is
nonfunctional or poorly functioned.
