For each of the drugs listed below, argue why you feel the drug should be legal or illegal. Please provide nonbiased research to support your stance.

1. Nicotine

2. Marijuana

3. Synthetic Drugs

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Any drug should only be legal to an extent where it can provide professional medical help in a prescribed manner. Overdose of any of the 3 drugs can be life threatening.

  • If in the right content, nicotine helps in increasing the attention span of an individual. If legalised, it can help people in that direction. On the other hand, excess of it is cancerous.
  • Marijuana can be used to treat certain diseases and disorders like glucoma, epileptic seizures. It decreases anxiety levels of the individual.
  • Synthetic drugs are helpful in decreasing heart diseases.

The only benefit of making these drugs legal is when they are given out in controlled amount. That is where they can act as a medicine and not a harmful chemical.
