Answer #1

Corporal punishment when used with right intension and right amount is not detrimental to the child, but is effective in disciplining the child and helps is preventing unnecessary behavior in the child. Abuse of corporal punishment for the sake of disciplining the child should be strictly prohibited, that is it should not be malicious and should not be excess for to the age, strength and offence of the child. The occasional mild spanking that is not accompanied with verbal abuse but has only the intention of corrective measure is beneficial for child and do not have any detrimental effect on the child and the parent-child relationship.

The studies conducted by Dr. Joseph O. Ogbe and Dr. Diana Baumrind and Colleagues supports mild, non-malicious, non-abusive occasional spanking of children for disciplining.
