In the case of Tennessee v. Swanson. Do you believe that the crimes charged are serious enough to support the burglary conviction, why or why not?

Answer #1

Lentonio Marcel Swanson robbed Anthony and Thomas Bell at gunpoint and fired a gun at Bell on 15th June 1998. He was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of aggravated assault and sentenced to a 29 years imprisonment. The judge when giving this judgment based their sentence on few factors such as the previous criminal record, the offender’s inability to live well in the society, causing harm to human lives and robbing people by threatening their lives.

In my opinion, the offender deserves his sentence because anyone who threatens human life should be locked up. Only severe laws will bring peace to the people and fear in the hearts of the offenders. Besides anyone who carries gun like a lunatic should be caught and put it into the jail as well.
