Describe the subsystems of long-term memory storage, illustrating each with a personal example
Long term memory is a stage of memoy in Atkinson- Shiffrin model. According to this model, LTM is the storage of information for an extended period of time. LTM can hold information enormously and indefinitely as compared to short term memory. The LTM is divided into different kinds of memory depending upon the characteristics of information.
The long term memory is divided into two types of memory such as explicit memoy ( declarative) and implicit memoy(non-declarative). Explicit memoy is again divided into two. i.e, semantic memoy (knowledge and concepts) and episodic memory( experienced events). Implicit memory is also divided into two. i.e, procedural memoy ( skills ad actions) and emotional conditioning.
