The Expectancy Theory in my view does the best job explaining factors that shape our personality that is exhibited in an organisational setting. The theory emphasizes individual perceptions of the environment and subsequent interactions arising as a consequence of personal expectations. In other words, the theory clearly states that an individual’s behaviour is based on the expectation of the outcomes that will follow and on the attractiveness of that outcome to the individual. However this model is also critiqued as simplistic as it does not regard the complex set of internal factors that can impact the behaviour and personality of individuals in an organisational context.
