An individual’s life up to this stage is taken up by with trying to establish himself in a professional career. Now, he needs to satisfy his need for generativity, a concern to establish and guide the next generation. This is realize through nurturing his own children, guiding and directing other young people and by engaging in some kind of creative, productive activity that may prove beneficial to society.

To develop generativity, the personality trait of creativity and caring is most important. The active participation in social concern can develop generativity in terms of social behaviour.
