Answer #1

The one leadership theory that has been proven not to work in the new millennium workplace or organization is the autocratic/authoritative leadership style.

Explanation:

The one leadership theory that has been proven not to work in the new millennium workplace or organization is the autocratic/authoritative leadership style. As one of the ancient leadership theories developed in the 1930s, this style has been practiced in the form of monarchies, dictatorships and the colonial times because of its nature.

However, with the advent of the new millennium, the authoritative leadership style does not fit into the new modalities of organizations. First of all, this leadership approach is engraved in total power/control to the individual in power. The subordinates role is to take orders and execute without question which is the absolute contrary of the contemporary workplace.

The authoritative leadership theory does not fit into the new millennium workplace because in this contemporary context, workplace are collaborative and demand sharing of views. People are flexible and volatility in action is key. Due to technological advancements, the need to be agile is overwhelming and so the authoritarian leadership that is controlling does come to play.

More than this, in the new millennium, people are socialized to to work hand in hand with leaders and not to take orders from leaders. In this light, deploying authoritarian leadership only frustrates the system by through de-motivation, lack of collaboration, rebellion and overall deteriorating performance because this is not the kind of system that people have been socialized to. Therefore, on all levels, that is for both the leader, employees and the organization, authoritarian leadership does not work in the modern workplace.
