Freud was an Austrian psychiatrist and the founder of psychoanalysis.Though he was the founder of psychoanalysis but later as well many people contributed to this field and helped this field to evolve and grow.

Its true that Freud was too influenced by gender sterotypes and the culture of his day. His ideas such as the p***s envy, oedipus and electra complex showed that he somehow beleived that women were incomplete and inferior to men and therefore envied them. Also his theories put a lot of blame on mothers as the primary caregivers and the cause of illness in the offspring which was culturally relevant to that era butbnot today as primary caregivers aren't necessarily motgers today.
