Answer #1

Conflict situations would be important aspects in the life of a person. These may take place in the work place or in family situations. In work place, conflicts are common. There may be different priorities that different people may be having which leads to these conflicts.

One such example of work place conflict was in submission of projects, where, two groups out do each other in their attempt to seek attention. One of the situation is when two different teams have two different working styles. When one team prefers working in one form, and with a change in leadership, when there is a drastic change in the leadership style, the team refutes in a major form and has conflicts with the new leader.

In such a situation, it is important that the new leader should be able to resolve the issues that the team is having, along with adjusting their working styles. If the leader further forces any form of styles to the team, the conflict further increases. It is important that the employees be treated with empathy as well as respect, which is the beginning step of work place conflicts.

Steps in resolution of conflicts include:

  • Recognition of the fact that there is some problem present
  • Agreeing that there should be some resolution brought about between the parties
  • There have to be strategies put forward so that there should be identification of any attitude change that takes place within both the parties, Nd an attempt to reduce negative feelings.
  • Devising interventions

The type of leadership employed here is paternalistic leadership, here, the leader recognises that any form of Anger or further reinforcements. Thus, though the leader keeps up an authoritarian form, they would take up a softer relationship with the group. He understands that it may not be very easy for people to adopt to newer methods or even accept them, and hence, he takes this softer approach.
