Give examples of the two different types of long term memory and the differences in their processing.

Playing guitar is an example of the implicit memory. It is a long-term memory. It remains in the unconscious level. It works automatically. This type of skills are stored in the cerebellum and the basal ganglia. It works automatically and we work automatically. No special effort is needed there to remember it.

The explicit memory includes the memories of the past, the learning of texts, the names of some persons, the family relatives, friends and so on. In the temporal lobe of the brain there is hippocampus. It is responsible for such memory. Amygdala is also responsible for the long term memory.
