Answer #1

In the cartoon an incident occurs to Thema, as she was in Fifth Avenue she saw Jackie Onassis at the other end of the road. She saw Jackie waving at her, she too waves back, actually Jackie was waving at a cab. Thema realises this when the cab arrives and Jackie gets into it. This incident was watched by group of people, and all that Thema can remember is her amount of her humiliation at that moment. Now, Thema describes this incident to her husband when she returns homes. After 5-6 months Robert describes this incident very vividly to guests but with a twist that he was with Thema. Robert claims that this incident has happened in Madison Avenue, and never mentions about the humiliation that was felt by Thema .

Thus, Robert misattributes and places himself into the incident and gives a very detailed explanation of the whole incident. He believes his imagination to be real. Thema remembers the feeling associated with context, and Robert filled the heard experience with facts and information that he thought would fit into his memory, detailed it with minute facts.
