Provide your own original argument and identify its logical structure. Be sure to clearly identify the premises and conclusion. Is it deductive or inductive? Is it valid? What criticism can be made of your argument? Minimum of 200 words

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The argument is:

All Reds are Colours.

An Apple is Red.

Therefore, an Apple is a Colour.

In the above argument, in the first premise, all items that are classified as Reds are also classified as Colours. In the second premise, an Apple is classified as Red. Here, the first premise is a general statement, and the second premise is more specific.

The conclusion states that an Apple has to be a Colour because of its properties of Red.

This argument is a Valid Deductive argument as the conclusion is following the premises.

The criticism that could be made is that, even though the argument is valid, it is not necessarily true.

Consistency is the premise that the given claims are constant if logically possible for all the claims to be true at the same time....

Use your knowledge of cognitive and emotive meaning, value claims, covert assumptions, vagueness and ambiguity, and verbal and factual disputes to determine which of the following statements are true. Check all that apply. Ambiguity can arise either from ambiguous words or from the way in which unambiguous words are combined. If an argument contains no vagueness or ambiguity, then this alone makes it a valid deductive argument or a strong inductive argument. Terminology that coveys information or expresses facts has...

A) “Woven baskets characterized by a particular distinctive pattern have previously been found only in the immediate vicinity of the prehistoric village of Palea. However, archaeologists discovered such a "Palean" basket in Lithos, an ancient village across the Brim River from Palea. The Brim River is very deep and broad, and so the ancient Paleans could have crossed it only by boat, and no Palean boats have been found. Thus it follows that the so-called Palean baskets were not uniquely...

Its critics stress that the minimum wage causes unemployment, hurts the economy, and actually harms the low-income people that were supposed to be helped. These are clearly very...
