One of the most important things to develop in order to improve interpersonal communication is to remain open towards people and experience. This would mean that overcoming pre-conceived notions and assumptions would make people open towards others which would facilitate interpersonal communication. Secondly, understanding the cultural differences among people in terms of non-verbal communications, symbols and signs would help one understand the importance of exhibiting appropriate body language necessary for that context. Thirdly, overcoming one’s own ego would help one remain focused and help one engage in meaningful conversation because ego would make one think of oneself as superior. Finally, be open and transparent as much as possible would help one eliminate any ambiguity in the communication and make people develop trust in one.
