Friction is a resistive force that comes into action when there is relative motion between two surfaces of bodies.

Friction may be good or may bad. It completely depends on the way of application.

For the following case, friction can be considered a good force.

Friction between cars tyres and road can be considered as good force, as it gives a better grip to tyres and prevents skidding of the vehicle.

but in case of frictional force between machine parts,it can be considered as bad force, as it shortens the life of the machine.

Hence it totally depends on the way of application.
