Advantage : it can be used in remote places by installing the recorded in convenient location

Disadvantage : it is designed to work at convenient frequency of rainfall . It will tip of at any lower or higher rain falls

, 2) weighing rain gauge

Advantage :it does not underestimate intense rain  and it can measure other forms like hail and snow.

Disadvantage : more expensive and require more maintenance than tipping bucket gauges.

3) optical rain gauge.

Advantage:Optical rain gauges were developed in the late 1990s and are relatively expensive.

Disadvantage :
