Project Constraints

what are common characteristics of work done using projects, 3 project constraints, and project life cycle.

Answer #1

Characteristics of Work Done using :

  • Projects - In the project, work to be done is systematically planned and grouped into WBS. Each work is planned in a proper sequence with required resources and cost associated with it. It has a reference in project management plan
  • 3 Project Constraints - Three project Constraints are Cost, Schedule and quality. Work done using this constraints will have very specific objective to maintain these constraints with in designed or planned limit.
  • Project Life cycle - Project life cycle give the sequence of project journey starting from initiation and ending to closure. A project life cycle is the series of phases that a project passes through from its initiation to its closure.Project life cycles can range along a continuum from predictive or plan-driven approaches at one end to adaptive or change-driven approaches at the other. In a predictive life cycle , the product and deliverables are defined at the beginning of the project and any changes to scope are carefully managed. In an adaptive life cycle, the product is developed over multiple iterations and detailed scope is defined for each iteration only as the iteration begins.

In all the method , common characteristics are

  • It should be align with a common objective of project
  • Planning should be done for resources, sequences, precedences etc.
  • Other aspects of project management such as risk management, communication, stakeholder management, human resource management should be maintained
  • Cost, Quality and schedule are key constraint for all the cases.
