Project management tools: The tools which are involved in project management with an effective plan and systematic organization of work. It may includes to define the objectives of the project , assigning tasks and schedule management. There are many project management tools which make most efficient and effective. Some of the project management tools that are mostly used like Gantt chart, Pert chart, and Timeline.
Gantt chart: Gantt chart divides the large set of projects into small tasks within order of series in which each one has expected time duration represented by horizontal bar whose left and right indicates starting and ending dates of tasks. Here tasks may run in an order of sequence or in parallel. In this process, we can observe important tasks highlighted by a small diamond shape. By using of Gantt chart, we can easily recognize the subtasks and thereby starting and ending of the tasks.
Pert chart: Pert is an acronym for project evaluation and review technique. It is the major project management tool used for the planning and scheduling of the projects. It can track the implementation phase too. Like the Gantt chart, it shows task divisions and starts and ending date dates of the task but it uses networks model to display the tasks which are different from Gantt chart. The network model has boxes and arrows which represent tasks and dependencies between tasks respectively. Pert chart layout makes easy to analyze the relationship between tasks but the complex structure is a disadvantage in it.
Timeline: Timeline is a powerful visualization tool in project management that helps to track the progress of project. By using the timeline, we can visualize the task on time basis mode which one is to be done in a very clear manner. Like Gantt chart, it is also run in a sequential manner at looking at tasks over time but the timeline is not much popular as the Gantt chart because of its limitations on dependencies and completion state.
All these tools are applied to project on tasks invoked according to plans and strategies to manage the project
