Transactional leadership is based on the idea of a transaction between the leader and the team members. The transactional leader provides close supervision. It is associated with task oriented leadership as the transactional leader expects the best from his subordinates. They look for efficiency in their subordinates and provide clear instructions about the requirements and schedule. They set high standards for their employees sometimes overlooking their team’s well being.

Transformational leader is more like emphasizing two-way communication and providing employees with support that allows them to complete their work autonomously. Thus transformational leadership style is more likely to emphasize the delegation of task scheduling, design, and approaches to completing projects to the employees
