Explain why paying someone to do something they like doing reduces their intrinsic motivation?
Intrinsically motivated individuals perform for their own achievement and satisfaction. If they come to believe that they are doing some job because of the pay or the working conditions or some other extrinsic reason, they begin to lose motivation. Therefore when paying someone to do something, the role of extrinsic motivation comes to play and hence that reduces their intrinsic motivation because they are not naturally satisfied, rather, are prompted to do a work in a certain manner owing the external motivators that comes to play.
