For a leader who is leading cross-cultural organizations or cross-cultural teams, it is really important to maintain the team rhythm and synchronization to avoid any bias, any chaos, encourage the right harmony and enthusiasm and happiness to grow the organization.

He/ she should have –

Qualities:   be a Good Communicator, maintain Integrity of information flow with adequateness and honesty and be enthusiastic to self and others

Character: one who inspires a Shared Vision to the team and is Empathetic in listening to other team members for any tangible and in-tangible problems or obstacles

Knowledge: enough Competent to execute the project, knows the micro and macro details of the project technical and non-technical

Skills- Ability to Delegate Tasks to different level of people in the whole team so that they can work efficiently, works Cool under Pressure, Team-Building, Problem Solving approach to go to root causes

Should use Adaptive leadership as:

  • Adaptive Leaders utilize the process of Mindful Engagement in turbulent environments
  • Adaptive leadership balances tensions and make an impact where there are no easy answers
  • Adaptive Leaders drive empathy, integrity with courage across all organizational hierarchies
  • Adaptive leadership forms a strong foundation for action even in varied turbulence and serve as guideposts for other/ future leaders
  • Adaptive Leaders see the world through others’ eyes, take suggestions and feedbacks, perform corrective actions

Avoid few practical and common problems like:

  • Not to spend more time per employee writing performance appraisals
  • Discouragement- if process is straight forward and does not reinforcement positively for feedbacks, it can back fire to employees
  • Biases/ favouritism- intentional and unintentional personal/ professional bias carried by reviewing managers
  • Inconsistency in Message communication by Managers, can result in negative effects
  • Contradictory and misleading opinions by reviewing managers is very practical issue
