What is the difference between how anticoagulant, antiplatelet and thrombolytic medications work?
Anticoangulant drugs used to treat and prevent arteial and venous thrombus ,prevent fibrin formation by interfering with production of various clotting factor in the coangulation process
Antiplatelet drugs used for prevent arterial and intra cardiac thombus formation, they inhibit platlets cyclooxygenase enzyme resulting there is no formation of thromboxane A2 and no platlets aggregation
Thrombolytic drug not prevent further clot formation but these drugs used for local fibrinolysis by converting plasminogen to plasmin which iniatiate fibrinolysis
