The difference between inductive and deductive reasoning are :

Inductive reasoning Deductive reasoning
It connotes the argument in which the premises give reasons in support of the probable truth of the conjecture. It is the fundamental form of valid reasoning,wherein the premises give guarantee of the truth of conjecture.
It follows bottom-up approach. It follows Top-down approach.
The starting point is conclusion. The starting point is premises.
Based on patterns or trend. Based on facts, truth and rules.
Process: Observation >Pattern >Tentative hypothesis >theory. Process: Theory > Hypothesis> Observation> Confirmation.
It goes from specific to general. It goes from general to specific.

For Inductive reasoning : The proposition works best is patterns or trend.

For deductive reasoning: The proposition works best is facts , truth and rules.
