A work group consists of members who work independently I.e work on specific tasks which could be independent or different from the other member. A work group has members working independently as a department .
A work team on the other hand is focused at a commin goal. For a work team to achieve the goal there should be synergy between every member of the team. Unlike a work group the members of a work team have a common goal.
Members of a work group need not have the same goal.
