What is the function of parallel and serious cells in electric car battery. Elaborate brifly

Answer #1

Parallel and series cells in electric car battery are used to either increase the total voltage or to increase the total capacity of the battery.

The battery achieves the desired operating voltage by connecting several cells in series which add up to get a large total terminal voltage. It also attains higher capacity using various cells in parallel by adding up the total Ampere hour.

The use of series combination of cells in an electric car battery is that instead of replacing the complete battery set in case of some failure we can replace the particular module (combination of a few cells) which is effected. And the parallel connection of cells is required whenever we need large current.

As I remembered, at the 2 poles of a battery, positive or negative electric charges are gathered. So there'll be electric field existing within the battery. This filed is neutralized by the chemical power of the battery so the electric charges will stay at the poles. Since there are electric charges at both poles, there must also be electric fields outside the battery. What happens when we connect a metal wire between the 2 poles of a battery? I vaguely...

If the battery is disconnected and the separation between the plates is increased, what will happen to the charge on the capacitor and the voltage across it? A) Both remain fixed. B) Both Increase. C) Both decrease. D) The charge increases and the voltage decreases. E) The charge remains fixed and the voltage increases.
