  • London came up with London congestion charge on Feb 17 2003. In this ,the vehicles traveling through the Congestion Charge Zone area will be charged a particular fee.
  • The fee will be charged from 7:00 to 18:00 from Mondays to Fridays and will not be charged during weekends,public holidays or between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
  • The main aim was to reduce high traffic flow and pollution in these areas.This was also to increase the investment funds of London's transport system.
  • After 10 years,that is,in 2013,it was seen that,vehicle congestion has reduced 10% from the baseline and an overall reduction of 11% in vehicle kilometers in London between 2000 and 2012. The traffic speeds are getting progressively slower over the past decade,in the central London.
