Before moving towards a solution, one should ask themself that "Is it ever acceptable if someone posts their picture on social media platform without their permission"?

And the answer to this question is No. It is not acceptable if someone posts some else picture on a social media platform without letting them know. Even they have the right to take strict action against it.

so, if the one post some else photos without letting them know may violate their privacy. for example: Tagging someone in group pictures whom the individual does not know personally may create a social link of their social media account. but it depends that is one can post the photos of their knowns( like buddy/sister, etc) without their permission, he/she may get mad and ask to take the photo down but he/she surely do not take any strict actions like the case a file for monitory damages.

However, if one can post some else photos without their permission, then he/she can take control of those pictures as:

• if the posted picture has offensive content then he/she can take appropriate action. for example a picture has been added to the ten most wanted criminals of some city.
• if the posted picture has been used to defame that is adding false assumptions that make some else reputation down then he/she can take appropriate action. for example someone shares some else picture or video that appears as they have committed a crime but in actual it did not.
• if the posted picture is used for a commercial purpose then he/she can take appropriate action. for example, someone uses some else picture for the advertisement of some online product.

so, the overall conclusion is Yes, the one needs to be required to obtain permission before posting photos of others for privacy concerns.
