In 200 words or more,Why should a "Combination Lock" actually be called a "Permutation Lock"? Provide some examples of Combinations and Permutations that you use to remember which is which.
Permutation : all possible ways in which a set or number of things can be ordered or arranged.
combination : is just ways of choosing things from a group of things without the order having any significance
Permutations are for lists (here order matters) while combinations are for groups (here order doesn’t matter). We can also say : A permutation is an ordered combination.
A “combination” lock should really be called a “permutation” lock because the order that you put the numbers in matters. A true “combination” lock would open using either 11-57-20 or 20-57-11. Actually, any combination of 11, 57 and 20 would open a true “combination” lock.
Therefore the lock should be called a permutation lock
