In no less than 200 words, discuss:

Should there be large tax credits for corporations to buy electric cars? Why or why not?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The high initial cost is one of the biggest hurdles that prevents the buyers from switching from traditional gasoline powered vehicles to the electric vehicles. This is the reason why the government has made provisions for tax exemption for electric vehicle makers. In the similar way, offering incentives for propective owners of these cars will make the cost of switching lesser. For governments, it will be helpful in reducing their carbon footprints, make the air cleaner and greener for the citizens and ensuring environmental sustainability, while working towards its goal of containing the level of harmful emissions from the air to the minimum possible in gradual manner by phasing out gasoline run vehilcles and changing over to electrically powered vehilces. Since larger corporations are the big ticket buyers, offering them incentives might lead to selling of sizable numbers of electic vehilces to them, something that justifies the rebates offered to them, because of the long term gains from the proposition.
