What bonds are broken and what bonds are formed in the synthesis of:

a.Nylon 66

b.Glyptal

c.Cross-linked PVA

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Nylon 6,6:

Nylon 6,6 is made up of adipic acid and hexmethylene diamine where C-O bond N-H bond will be broken. Water molecule get eliminated. C-N will be formed.

Glyptal :

Phthalic anhydride and Glecerol are reacting together giving Glyptol where where C-O bond O-H bond will be broken. C-O will be formed.

Cross-linked PVA:

Cross-linked PVA is made from clevage of polyvinyl acetate which synthesised from vinyl acetate. Where C=C will be broken and C-C is made

Increasing the temperature of a semiconductor breaks covalent bonds. For each broken bond, two electrons become free to move and transfer electrical charge. (a) What fraction of valence electrons are free to move and (b) what fraction of the covalent bonds must be broken in order that 5 × 1015 electrons conduct electrical charge in 50 g of silicon? (c) What fraction of the total silicon atoms must be replaced by arsenic atoms to obtain one million electrons that are...

What is protein synthesis? A) Protein synthesis is the process through which cells capture DNA and chemically "force" it to do their "bidding." B) Protein synthesis is the process through which cells decay, also known as necrosis. Protein synthesis requires energy in the form of ATP and GTP. Two high-energy phosphate bonds (from ATP) fuel the formation of one aminoacyl tRNA. Formation of the initiation complex requires energy from one GTP. Delivery of each new tRNA to the Asite requires one GTP. Termination requires the hydrolysis of one GTP.   Based on this information, the table of codons, and your understanding of the processes of Activation, Initiation, Elongation, and Termination, answer the following questions. How many high energy...
