Sketch what a sample of water (at least 5 molecules) would look like on the molecular level at 100?C, the phase change. (Be sure to draw and label the strongest interaction present as well as explain your drawing if needed).

Solution :-

At the 100 C temperature the liquid water is reaches its boiling point where the phase change starts and it converts the liquid water into the vapor (gas). Hydrogen bonding is the strongest intermolecular force present in the water molecules which is the electrostatic force of attraction between the H and O. But when the hydrogen bond is broken at the boiling point then liquid water starts to convert into the vapor. Following image shows the diagram with 5 water molecules at 100 C and how it shows the hydrogen bonding and separation of the gas phase molecule at boiling point.
