In a lab this week I will have to add 0.1 equivalent of iodine as a solution in acetone? How do you calculate this?

Answer #1

Data is insufficient.

But I think you want to calculate from Noramality

Normality = Gram equivalent weight / Volume of solution (L)

= Molarity * No.of gram equivalents

Suppose if you want to make 0.1 N acetone solution of 1 M then you need 0.1 equivalents of Iodine

i.e., 0.1 N = 1M * equivalents of Iodine

==> equivalents of Iodine = 0.1 / 1 = 0.1

Note : If you are not satisfied, just comment to below the answer then I will get back with solution to your comment

I have completed a column chromatography lab and need to write a discussion. We performed a TLC at the end to check our separation. Unfortunately, I did not do a good job separating ferrocene and acetyl ferrocene (with hexane, TBME, then acetone) and could not see any of the spots on the developed TLC. Why can't I see the spots at all? They disappeared. How do I explain what the TLC experiment shows about the effectiveness of my separation?

Hi, i'm working on the lab report for Iodometric determination of Cu in Brass and i need help with these questions. I greatly appreciate your help. Info: This experiment has two parts: standardization of the thiosulfate solution, and assay of the copper. In the standardization of the thiosulfate solution, a known amount of iodine is created from KIO3 and excess iodide, then titrated with the thiosulfate. In the copper assay, iodine is formed from the reaction between copper and excess...

Chemical Equilibrium: Le Chatelier’s Principle. 1. Add 0.5 mL of 0.1 M FeCl3(aq) to 0.5 mL of 0.1 M KSCN(aq), and then add 15 mL of distilled water. To a 2-mL portion of this mixture, add 1 mL of 0.1 M KSCN(aq). Observe any difference in the color from the original solution and explain your observations. Because you are combining equal volumes of equal concentrations, and because they combine in a 1 to 6 mole ratio, Fe3+(aq) should be in...
