OVERPOPULATION can be defined as when the particular population has exceeded its sustainable size within a particular ecological habitat. This generally occurs when the population size exceeds the carrying capacity (k) of the particular species in speculation. Overpopulation can be caused by various changes in population dynamics like-

1. Increase in natality rate ( birth rate/fertility rate) of the population considered.

2. Decrease in mortality rate (death rate) of the population considered.

3. Increase in immigration ( the number of new people from a diiferent region enter into the habitat/area of population under consideration)

4.Decline in emigration (the number of people leaving the particular habitat of the population under consideration) .

Effects-

1. Depletion of natural precious resources

2. unemployment.

3. Degradation of environment.
