The mechanism of translation elongation is conserved between
eukaryotes and bacteria
Let us see the effect in eukaryotic translation elongation
,
Here the large ribosomal subunit is made transparent to
visualize tRNAs (interacting with the peptidyl transferase center
in the large subunit ),factors, and mRNA ( binding to the decoding
center at the interface between the large and small subunit).
Within the loop of tRNA with mRNa , Complex such as
eEF1A.GTP.aminoacyl-tRNA ternary binds the aminoacyl-tRNA to the
ribosome.
The aminoacyl-tRNA eEF1A.GDP is accommodated into A site and
recycled to eEF1A.GTP by eF1B.
Meanwhile, the acceptor ends of tRNAs moving into P & E
sites along with the transition of - and P-site tRNAs into hybrid
states which accompanies peptide bond formation. GTP promotes
translocation of the tRNAs and is followed by release of
eEF2.GDP.
