The archaeology of modern humans provides a unique, specific and long- term view of the evolution of behaviour of humans. Human evolution study includes examination of physical, genetic and behavioral variation along with the hominin linage since the divergence occured from apes of about seven million years ago.

The most ancient archaeological traces suggest that hominins used the tools to gain and collect food which has favoured the hominin to get access to meat, marrow and other food items obtained by tools. The early humans had not only knowledge of animal behaviour and plant properties, human hunting and gathering includes tools like bows, arrows, traps, digging sticks, and other material culture. The most earliest archaeological traces that are stone tools from sediments which is about 2.5 million years old . They are found out in Gona, Ethiopia.
