Answer #1

As a biomedical engineer, the scientist has been asked to design several medical devices which are to be used in the hospital. The medical devices which sje will be designing are medical imaging devices such as CT scan and X ray. Apart from that, she will also be designing a dialyzer which works as an artificial kidney and lastly she is going to design a ventilator which performs the function of lungs by allowing passage of air and making breathing possible. Each of these devices have different motors and drivers. The medical imaging devices use brushless DC drivers. The dialysis machine(dialyzer) uses the brushed DC drivers. The ventilator uses the BLDC motor which is also provided with the controller, encoder and motors. The normal DC drivers does not carry out the function of the modern day ventilators.

You are working on a mix design and have been asked by the engineer to recommend the maximum size aggregate that can be used in the mix. The concrete is for a continuously reinforced concrete slab. The slab is 10 inches thick and will be reinforced with No. 6 bars (3/4-inch diameter) at 6 inch on-center (so a 5 1⁄4 inch space between the bars). The bars will be placed just above mid-depth of the slab so they have 4...

The household electrical devices require power at appropriate voltage which is accomplished by using transformers. You have just bought a new bread maker from Canada and it is designed to operate at a voltage of 110 V. Propose a suitable type of transformer to ensure the bread maker can function in Dubai by including characteristics such as power, currents, turns ratio and resistances. In your proposal, state all the assumptions made and explain how the transformer functions.
