Discuss the application of the parsimony principle in the construction of phylogenetic trees.
Priciple of parsimony:- According to principle of parsimony simplest explaination that can explained is to be preferred and simplest explanation is correct. we can use principle of parsimony to draw a phylogenetic tree. To draw a phylogenetic tree firstly we must conclude which species are most closely related to each other. the principle of parsimony appliec to phylogenetic tree that have the fewest evolutionary changes is one we should say is correct.
Example:- if we took four species P,Q,R,S and check characters like wings. if species P and R have wings that means they have common ancestor or we can say they are most closely related to each other.
